Lafleur,Jacques Born at Nancy, 1757, went to Paris, 1780, established "Alliance Musicale". Subsequently engaged a staff of workmen for instru making. died of cholera, 1833. personal work consisted principally of bow making, outstandingly fine imitations of the Tourte, and so finely balanced, etc. as to frequently pass for original Tourtes. seldom stamped with his own name, several violins also bear his name, usually red varnish, very similar to the early productions of Vuillaume, cellos of medium arching, brownish yellow varnish, typically French tone.
