Born at Passek-on-the-Iser (Bohemia), 1864. Pupil of Josef Metelka in the same town, 1879. Worked at Glasersdorf, Prague, and Schumburg. Returned to birthplace, 1888. Established at Jicin (Bohemia), 1894. Produced finely modelled violins, ’cellos and double-basses, mostly after Stradivarius, Guarnerius and Stainer.
