Mr. Tang was a violin student of Zhang Shi-Xiang， Class of 1973， at the Middle School attached to the Shanghai Conservatory. Graduating in 1979 he joined the studios of the Shanghai Violin Factory. Here he was apprenticed to Chen Quan-Xiang in bow and violin making. He makes instruments of the violin family.
