A pupil of Ceruti, Guadagnini and Preenda, he settled in Paris in 1846. After quarrelling with the other Parisian makers in 1868/9 he returned to Genoa. Established himself at Nice in 1872 and died there. Succeeded by his foreman, Francois Bovis.
