"CONTINO (Alfredo) - Naples. Born in 1890. Only pupil and successor of Vincenzo Postiglione who, like his master, reproduces the classic models with great skill and success. His gold yellow or dragon's blood red varnish is made with oil and spirit. Through the excellence of his work he has been awarded prizes at exhibitions, among them the Diploma of Honour at Rome in 1917."up to year 1949,constructed 300 violins, 70cellos and 15 violas.
