Detail Introduction
Eugenio Degani is said to be the founder of the modern Venice school of violin making. He trained with his father, Domenico, and briefly established his own workshop in Montagnana in 1867 before moving the following year to Venice. His itruments show a precise hand and personal style, although he occasionally copied makers such as Stradivari, Guarneri and Montagnana. His elongated, deeply carved scrolls are particularly characteristic. Some violi from his Montagnana period have double purfling. ShopsDiscussion board forDegani,Eugenio |
