One of the greatest makers of the modern Turin school, Aibale Fagnola was largely self-taught and opened his own workshop in 1899. Initially he perfected the art of copying the itruments of his predeceors Preenda and Rocca, but later developed a more personal style. His finest itruments date from the 1920s. Fagnola was a prolific maker and his workshop employed many aistants, including Riccardo Genovese and Evasio Emilio Guerra. His work has been imitated exteively.
