worked in Rostock( Mecklenburg), 1878; at Griez(Thuringia), 1895; and at Berlin, 1900. Gold medallist at several Exhibitions. First instr of  an unusually large model, but though the proportions are skillfully arranged, they gave little success to his attempts to solve the riddle of magnificent tone. Subsequently built instr on the large Strad model, workmanship quite good. Produced all forms of stringed instr including guitars and zithers.
