Born in Tjotta, Norway. Made first violin in around 1897 as a hoy. Worked for Ole Bryant and established his own shop in 1920. Made more than 200 itruments.
Worked in Boston, 1870-1880s. Worked for A.W. White. Produced hundreds of itruments, many branded \"C. BAKER\" under the button. Also signed and numbered on label.
Fine Italian maker whose work gradually became more French influenced over time. He used a smaller model than is typical of his French contemporaries, and sometimes the archings are a little high. His deeply cut scrolls are very characteristic.
