Arenticed to Ferdinand Bruckner in Budapest and paed his journeyman\'s examination in 1889. Set up his own shop in 1905. Made bows at the begiing of his career, but later concentrated on itruments. His students include Antal Arzt and Laszlo Kalikin.
Son of Fridolin Hamma, Walter Hamma studied in Mittenwald and Paris. He later ran the family firm of Hamma in Stuttgart and helped to rebuild it after it was destroyed in WWII.
Hamma was president of the international violin making society EILA 1963-1965 and wrote books on Italian and German itruments.
